cling on tuner:

BATTERY INSTALLATION:
To install the battery, push and slide the back cover (battery cover) of tuner away from swivel. Install the battery with the correct polarity. Negative side (-) should be facing down and positive (+) should be facing up. Replace the back cover by aligning the four guides in the slots of the tuner and slide the cover back in place towards the swivel. Do not use force.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS:
The magnetic Cling On Tuner is designed to attach directly to any metal part of the instrument, such as metal tuning gears, tuning pegs, tuning machine heads, metal strap pins, metal plates, etc. If such is not present on your instrument, or its location is not desired, then you have the option to use the provided Mini Magnetic Base. Carefully choose the location of the instrument where you would like to attach the magnetic base. Consider the visibility of the LCD screen, ease of access to the controls, as well as the ability to hide the tuner inconspicuously when not in use. To attach to the instrument, the surface must be FLAT and free from dust, dirt and grime. Peel off the backing paper of the 3M sticker and stick to desired area. Press firmly for about 30 seconds for better adhesion.

REMOVING THE MINI MAGNETIC BASE:
The magnetic base can be removed EASILY and SAFELY, simply by sliding a piece of thread (Psst: Dental floss works great) behind/underneath the base. With a left-and-right motion cut trough the adhesive sticker. Clean any residue left on the instrument by applying a small amount of fingerboard cleaner, or lemon oil furniture cleaner on a paper towel or cotton cloth and gently rub the area until adhesive comes off. Do not rub hard or scrape off residue. Be extra gentle on older and vintage finishes. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL or any other harsh chemical cleaners. NEVER USE A HARD OR SHARP OBJECT TO REMOVE THE BASE. It will damage the finish on your instrument!

TUNER INSTRUCTIONS:
Attaching/detaching: ALWAYS TILT TUNER SIDEWAYS TO SEPARATE FROM MAGNETIC BASE OR METAL PLATE AND THEN LIFT UP! NEVER PULL STRAIGHT AWAY FROM INSTRUMENT! Pulling straight is going against the magnetic force, which may damage the tuner, or will lead to pulling either one of the magnets off from its casing. This is to avoid potential damage to the finish of your instrument.
Turning on/off: To turn the tuner on or off press and hold the power button (left button) for approximately 1.5 sec. This is a battery preserving feature that prevents from accidental "bumping" on the power button, which may otherwise unintentionally turn on your tuner when in transport. Always turn off tuner after tuning to preserve the battery. Tuner will turn off automatically after 4 min if it does not sense any vibration.
Changing the calibration: The calibration can be set anywhere from 430Hz-450Hz. To scroll up press Hz button (middle button). Each time you press the button the frequency will change in ascending order in one Hz increment. The current selection will be displayed on the screen. 440Hz is the standard. Tuner will automatically reset to 440Hz each time it is turned on.
Changing the tuner mode: The tuner has 5 preset tuning modes: Chromatic, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, and violin. To make your desired selection press the Mode button (right button) to scroll through the different tuning modes. The current selection will be displayed on the screen.
Tuning: When you play a note the tuner will automatically detect and display the note played. If the pitch is sharp or flat, the screen will stay red and the gauge needle will be right of center (when sharp) and left of center (when flat). Adjust tuning until needle reaches center. When tuning is correct, the needle will be exactly in the center (0) and screen will light up green. Play one string at a time and mute the other strings for best and quickest result. If display "hesitates" between two different notes that means that it picks up other vibrations as well. In such case pluck the string lighter, not harder.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Tuner won't turn ON: Verify that you have installed the battery correctly according to the instructions above. Make sure the battery is not depleted.
Screen is ON but tuner is not responding or it works for a little and then freezes: In most cases that means that the battery is below the required voltage threshold for the processor to detect and display a reading. The LCD display will still be on. It will be a little dimmer, but that may be unnoticed until actually compared with a new battery installed.
Sometimes the tuner does not show a reading: Make sure tuner makes a good connection with instrument. Pluck the string lightly one at a time. Mute all other strings. If that does not solve the problem, or it becomes more persistent than before, the battery will need to be replaced soon.
Mini Magnetic base is not sticking to the instrument: Make sure the surface is flat and clean. Dust, dirt or grease will prevent from desired adhesion. Sticker is not reusable.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A TOY! MAGNETS ARE VERY STRONG AND BRITTLE IF HIT HARD. BROKEN MAGNETS ARE SHARP. DISCARD IF BROKEN. DO NOT INGEST OR INHALE. SWALLOWED MAGNETS CAN STICK TO INTESTINES CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. KEEP AWAY FROM PACEMAKERS AND INTERNAL MEDICAL DEVICES. MAGNETIC MEDIA AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT HAZARD!

ATTACHING MAGNETIC BASE:
(one-time installation)
The magnetic base can be installed quickly and easily on most acoustic instruments with any size sound hole, including f-shaped sound holes present in violins, violas, cellos, mandolin and many other. Please watch the installation video to see how simple the installation is.

1. Use a small portion (about the size of a grain of rice) from the provided putty, roll into a little ball to soften. Apply a thin layer evenly on the magnetic base using your thumbs to spread out. Make sure putty is applied on the correct side as labeled. Save the remaining putty for future use.
2. Loosen strings. You do not need to remove them. With your hand through the sound hole, find a location on the soundboard close to the bridge and away from braces and clear off any dust or wood shavings. Stick the magnetic base by applying light pressure with your finger for few seconds. You may also use the pickup on the outside. The magnetic force will help with the adhesion of the magnetic base. For instruments with small or f-shaped soundholes, please watch the Quick Installation video above.
3. If you need to change the location of the magnetic base, simply remove the base, roll the putty in a small ball to reactivate. Repeat steps 1 and 2.

THE LOCATION WHERE YOU WILL ATTACH THE PICKUP IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE SOUND! EVERY INSTRUMENT IS DIFFERENT, AND THE „SWEET SPOT“ LOCATION WILL VARY FROM INSTRUMENT TO INSTRUMENT!
Moving the magnetic base up or down the soundboard will affect the high-, mid- and low frequencies. Moving down toward treble strings will increase the high frequencies, and moving up towards the bass strings will increase your mid and low frequencies. Moving base closer to bridge will provide more clean and focused sound and moving further away from bridge will pickup more overtones and sound will be more resonant.
For a guitar with flat bridge pickup may be used right on the bridge. For such installation you will need two magnetic bases (additional magnetic bases sold separately in 3-packs) to increase magnetic force to compensate for the extra thickness of bridge.
YOUR GUITAR IS NOW READY TO USE THE PICKUP!
USING THE PICKUP:
1. Plug in the mini jack into Pickup and plug guitar cable on other end of adapter. If your guitar is equipped with a strap pin, ALWAYS secure adapter to strap pin to avoid accidentally stepping on your cable and pulling out the pickup. Don't force onto strap pin. Some strap pins are too big and may cause adapter to tear. Refer to images for correct installation. If using a strap, then you may also clamp the adapter onto your strap near the pin using a binder clip (not provided) or any other suitable clip. Do not clip over cable!

2. Make sure the silicone rubber pad on bottom of Pickup is always CLEAN to avoid scratching the finish. Place Pickup carefully on the soundboard until secured over the magnetic base. Do not drop on guitar! Follow this step every time you use the pickup.
3. Set the volume on your pickup to about 50-70% and then adjust the gain and EQ on your amp. We recommend reducing lows and mids and increase highs for more balanced sound. Avoid going above 80% on volume and/or GAIN at any time to reduce the risk of feedback.
4. If your amp is equipped with a PHASE switch, toggle the switch and choose the appropriate phase where you get a better sound and no feedback.

THE QUALITY OF YOUR SOUND CAN BE FURTHER ENHANCED IF CONNECTED TO A PRE-AMP AND/OR EFFECT PEDALS.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
-
Always store the pickup and audio adapter inside the box when not in use.
-
Always use two hands when connecting and disconnecting audio cable.
-
Always clean the silicone pad before attaching to your instrument. Dirt and small particles may stick to it, which may scratch the finish of your instrument.
